A selection of the club's coaching and backroom staff cycled part of the route on day one of Doddie's Triple Crown - a four-day ride covering an 800-mile course from Melrose to Dublin.
Raising funds for research into Motor Neurone Disease, the Red Bulls joined the pack in North Northumberland for the ride into Tynedale RFC.
Rob Wainwright and Mark Beaumont's epic annual cycling challenge will arrive in Dublin on Friday evening before Scotland take on Ireland in the Six Nations' Super Saturday, taking the following route.
Day 1: Melrose to Leeds.
Day 2: Leeds to Gloucester.
Day 3: Gloucester to Pembroke (overnight ferry to Ireland).
Day 4: Rosslare to Dublin.
Forwards coach Micky Ward was among the Newcastle contingent taking to the saddle, with the Red Bulls' playing squad on hand at the finish line to greet the group.
Ward said afterwards: "We've only done a relatively small part of the course with a 50km ride into Corbridge, but the legs are still sore!
"It's an incredible effort from all the guys who are going further, and obviously for a great cause in Doddie Weir's foundation.
"I was lucky enough to play with Doddie during my career, and the work that the foundation is still doing in his name is fantastic.
"It's an honour to play even a small part in supporting and raising awareness for what they're doing, and if people are able to make a donation it will certainly be put to good use in the fight against Motor Neurone Disease."
