The 29-year-old back-five forward has played 35 times since joining the club from Jersey Reds in September 2023, scoring one try.
A former Northampton Saints academy member who also represented Bristol Bears, the Bedfordshire-born player heads to Worcester with the thanks and best wishes of all at Kingston Park.
Hawkins said: “I’m incredibly grateful to have played a small part during my time here at Newcastle.
“The club showed a lot of faith in me after Jersey went bust, and I’ll forever be proud to have represented the region. The club is in a really exciting spot, I look forward to watching it progress and I wish everyone at Kingston Park all the best for the future.”
Sporting general manager Neil McIlroy said: "John is an outstanding professional who has displayed a team-first mentality throughout his time with us, and we wish him every success for his new challenge at Worcester Warriors."
