Senior academy players George Bolam (pictured) and Charlie Turnbull are both selected for the world's oldest sevens tournament, held in the famous Scottish border town of Melrose, 70 miles north of Newcastle.
Ex-academy members including Cam Ellis and Joe Craggs are included as guest players, with Newcastle's first game seeing them take on Glasgow Hawks at 11.42am.
Should the Red Bulls progress through to the second round they would meet Hawick at 3.36pm, while Newcastle are also fielding an academy team in the Under-18s version of the tournament.
